Profile- rudra lal mulmi
Tulsi Meher himself had given Mr. Mulmi the responsibility of the Charkha Pracharak Mahaguthi, he was compelled to disengage himself from the trust in 2047 B.S. (1990). The pain inflicted from having to unwillingly part with the organization established with one's initiation is still apparent. Though he was forced to leave the trust, he did not abandon his momentum of social service. He established Tulsi Meher UNESCO Club in 2047 B.S. and initiated a series of literacy campaigns and social upliftment movements through it. He has been conducting literacy and post literacy programs for inmates in prisons of 42 districts of Nepal besides helping to establish and conduct partnership education centers in remote and backward places of the country. To spread the flame of education as well as impart income generating skills, various skill development and income generating programs are also running through the UNESCO Club. Mr. Mulmi has also contributed to develop manuals for education centers organized by the Federation of UNESCO Organizations Japan, to take ahead this campaign up to national and international level.
Mr. Mulmi is simple living, soft spoken and a person of few words. He strongly believes that serving others is the ultimate religion. His lifelong commitment and unselfish dedication towards social service is admirable. He has set an example by his fight against age-old casteism and untouchability, his works for the upliftment of destitute and oppressed, and his commitment to safeguard well being of the marginalized community. He is still active to raise women literacy and empowerment. He is till date working for welfare of the helpless, widow or single women by providing shelter homes for them and producing education materials.
In the course of gathering support for social works, development and expansion of social organization, Mr. Mulmi has traveled frequently to Japan, England, Thailand, Bangladesh and India. He has been on exposure visits to various countries as well. Even after more than eight decades of existence, Mr. Mulmi carries youthful enthusiasm, audacity and diligence. He has received pertinent recognition from the government for his exemplary contribution in forms of medals like Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu fourth, famous Tri Shakti Patta, etc.
At this stage in life, this octogenarian is still actively involved and contributing towards building a better society. In his entire life he has believed and followed the Gandhi philosophy of non violence and peace. He still dreams of building a model place as per the aspirations of Mahatma Gandhi. Knowing fully that use of foreign goods increases dependency and poverty of the country; he expresses great desire to conduct nationalist movement to make the country self sustainable.
