our objectives

The objectives of TMUC are as follows:

Literacy: Our literacy and post literacy programme in the districts of Lalitpur, Kaski, Gorkha, Bhojpur Sindhupalchok, Kathmandu, Dhanusha and Kavrepalanchok has benefited over 12,000 rural people of whom around 95% are women. We produce training manuals and support materials.

Income Generation and Skill Training Programmes: Many rural women have benefited from our training programmes in sewing, handlooms, carpet weaving and typing crafts. Whole communities have benefited from training in agricultural skills and other indigenous and traditional crafts.

Community Learning Centres: Centres have now been built in Gorkha, Kavre and Lalitpur with community mobilisation. As well as providing an ideal environment for learning they are also being utilised for other purposes such as health camps and nursery schooling.
Children's Education - We provide Nursery to Grade II education for the children of destitute women.
Prisoners Literacy and Skill Development Programme - Provides training and education for prisoners in 15 district jails.
Exhibitions and Lectures - We organise and host discussions, symposiums, lectures and seminars on social issues.
Action based research, internships and research guidance.
Rehabilitation ramme - This provides a safe environment for women who have been divorced or widowed and their children. The women undertake a year long training programme in crafts to aid economic independence and basic life skills.
Savings Credit Programme - We encourage saving and economic independence by matching the savings of 375 participants.
Health and Sanitation Programme: We aim to improve this in rural communities through the provision of training in building clean,safe water supplies, basic toilet and sanitation facilities, smokeless stoves and Bio Gas units.
