Introduction
Tualsi Meher UNESCO Club (TMUC) is an independent non profit NGO and was established in 1989 through the initiative of Mr. Rudra Lal Mulmi, who is a respected social worker in Nepal. TMUC was established in tribute to the memory of Tulasi Meher Shrestha, a prominent Gandhian philosopher and pioneering social reformer.
This organization is steadfastly committed to the Gandhian ideals of truth, non-violence, peace, social justice, self reliance, volunteerism, sustainable and holistic development.
We do not believe that the economic advancement of the people should be at the cost of
humanitarian values. Therefore our programmes are based on a harmonious balance of spiritual,
socio-cultural, material, scientific and environmental aspects.
Dawn of democracy has opened the new vistas of tack¬ling the issues
of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, disease and inertia prevailing in the country by the NGOs
through the initiative of the people themselves. This organisation will seek to channelize
the creative energies of the people being released by the un¬shackling of the people from
the social and political bondages.
